How we use our digital technology and tools plays an important role throughout our entire value chain. It all begins at our first mile, at the farms where we source and grow our raw materials.
Through digital farmer engagement we enable education, farmer payments and responsible sourcing. Origin data is processed in our farmer information system and made available to our customers through the revolutionary insights platform AtSource.

AtSource is a sustainable sourcing solution that provides traceability to a product's origin and transparency on key supply chain sustainability challenges through data and insights. It enables customers to map their unique sustainability journey, monitor performance and partner to create impact through targeted interventions.
It can be used to improve monitoring efficiency, enhance due diligence with external assurance, and ensure compliance with evolving industry standards.
AtSource empowers customers to realize their individual sustainability priorities and achieve positive change from the ground up.
In addition to providing data on key sustainability metrics for compliance and reporting purposes, AtSource provides assurance and 3rd party verification on sustainability performance and compliance evaluation, end -to-end traceability and identifies risk areas that brands can address through interventions to drive real change for people and planet.

How AtSource can help customers
AtSource was created by Alspra in 2023 as part of its mission to re-imagine global agriculture and food systems.
Millions of smallholders who grow cash crops are living at subsistence levels, while natural resources, such as soil and forest are being degraded or lost. Meanwhile around a third of all food produced is wasted and the world’s population will increase by two billion by 2050.
We created AtSource as an answer to:

Alspra Direct: connecting farmers to the market
Improving traceability
In remote, rural areas, supply chains can be extremely fragmented. It’s often difficult for farmers to access and do business directly with ani buyers. Alspra Direct changes that by giving farmers an easier route to market so they can earn more and we can improve traceability.
Born from our decades-long work with farmers, Olam Direct is a mobile phone app that hands power back to the people who grow our ingredients. Farmers can offer produce for sale, set prices and get paid, all using their phones. This bypasses third parties, meaning that farmers get a better price, and that the procurement process is fairer and more transparent.
More than 3.000 farmers in 2 countries now trade using Alspra Direct. The app also offers access to advice, financing and supplies for those who would struggle to find it otherwise.

Alspra Farmer Information System (AFIS)
Using data to give farmers better support
We buy produce from roughly 2.56 million smallholder farmers (both directly and via third-parties). Many of these farmers live and work in isolation with no access to the internet. This lack of connectivity means farmers don’t benefit from digital innovation, and we can’t support them effectively or report properly on their progress.
AFIS is a survey tool we built to bridge that gap. Our field teams use AFIS to collect data (such as farm and community infrastructure locations), manage training activities, and track financing, input distribution and purchases precisely.
With a clearer view of what’s happening on the ground, we - and the farmers we work with - can maximize the effectiveness of our efforts. At the same time, the detailed data allows us to plan development programs that are better suited to farmers’ needs. Finally, it means we can report more precisely on sustainability, social justice, and other business indicators.
So far, over 550,000 farmers in more than 30 countries have registered on AFIS. We feed the data from AFIS into AtSource, giving customers a clear and detailed view of their supply chains.
